Men's Soccer Opens WCC Play With A Win
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer opened West Coast Conference play with a 3-1 win over San Francisco on Sunday evening.

The Broncos (1-9-0, 1-0-0 WCC) scored three unanswered goals after allowing an early goal to USF (3-8-0, 0-1-0 WCC) in the seventh minute.

SCU came back with a quick equalizer in the ninth minute when senior Carlos Delgadillo settled down a pass from freshman Javier Ruiz Duran to beat Dons goalkeeper Ruben Stuiver to tie the match up 1-1.  It was Delgadillo's team leading fourth goal of the season.

Santa Clara controlled most of the first half and was rewarded in the 42nd minute when sophomore Miles Robinson scored with his left foot from eight yards out in what turned out to be the game-winner.  Both Alex Achramowicz and Delgadillo were credited with an assist on Robinson's second goal of the season. Achramowicz one timed a pass from Delgadillo and threaded it behind the USF defense that Robinson pushed past Stuiver.

In the 70th minute, USF nearly tied the game up on a curling left-footed free kick from Aaron Lombardi that Bronco goalkeeper Dakota Havlick made a diving save on.

Nine minutes later in the 79th minute, Valdemar Andersen added an insurance goal on a free kick goal from 23 yards out to seal the Broncos' win in the conference opener.
