Men’s Soccer Hauls In Players From Four States And Denmark In 2018 Recruiting Class
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer cast a wide net across the United States and overseas to sign five prospective Bronco student-athletes for the 2018 recruiting class.  Broncos head coach Cam Rast made the announcement.

"The class that we are bringing in for 2018 fits a lot of the needs that we have. We are excited about the group at this point and will only be more excited by the time we finish it up as we are still looking for another one or two players that can fill out this class," said Rast.

Rast and his staff signed three midfielders and two center backs representing four states and Denmark.

The midfielders include: Julian Bravo (Claremont, California, Claremont HS, FC Golden State Academy), Presten Manthey (Las Vegas, Nevada, Palo Verde HS, Heat 99 ECNL) and Bishop Washington (Portland, Oregon, Shattuck Saint-Mary's in Minnesota, Washington Timber Football Club).

"When you look at the players that turned over and what we need to replace for the upcoming season, its important that we have the players who signed," said Rast.  "A player like Julian Bravo, who was the first commit to our class, is a creative player that will be good in the attack but could be good in the wide positions as well as center midfield. Also with a player like Presten Manthey who can score goals and help support the attack.  Bishop Washington adds depth at midfield and has great potential to grow."

The center backs include: Sakari Carter (Seattle, Washington, Ingraham HS, Seattle Sounders Academy) and Emil Christensen (Nr. Snede, Denmark, Learnmark Horsens HS).

"Emil Christensen, who is already enrolled at Santa Clara, fills a big need in the center back position with Valdemar Andersen graduating.  And Sakari Carter gives us depth at center back or possibly even the wide back," said Rast.

The Broncos will highlight a signee per week starting later this week.  The first of those signees is Julian Bravo.
