SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer closes out its home schedule Sunday on Senior Night against No. 7 Portland (10-1-3, 2-1-1 WCC), with the Broncos looking to win back-to-back conference wins after beating Gonzaga, 3-1, on Friday.
Four seniors will be donning the Santa Clara men' soccer uniforms for the last time at Stevens Stadium on Sunday. The final home match of the season will kick off at 7 p.m. with seniors Brandon Gillingham, Dakota Havlick, Andres Jimenez and Matthew Sipowicz being honored in a pre-match ceremony starting at 6:45 p.m.
THE PILOTS
Portland (10-1-3, 2-1-1 WCC) enters Sunday's match having its 13-match unbeaten streak snapped after falling to San Francisco, 2-1, on Friday night.
The Pilots currently sit in third place in the West Coast Conference standings trailing league leader Saint Mary's (14-0-1, 3-0-1 WCC) and Pacific (9-3-2, 3-1 WCC) behind the 13th ranked offense in the nation (entering the weekend), averaging 2.15 goals per game.
All-WCC performer Benji Michel leads the way with a team-leading 10 goals and 22 points. Nine different Pilots have scored with seven multi-goal scorers.
Goalkeeper Kienan Weekes, son of former Santa Clara great Terry Weekes, is 10-1-2 on the season with a 0.90 goals against average with a .745 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 22-18-8 all-time against Portland with the first meeting coming in 1978. The two schools last met in 2017 with the Broncos coming up on the short end of the 1-0 match .

• The Broncos play four 2017 NCAA Tournament teams on the road (Old Dominion, VCU, Pacific and San Francisco) and one at home (Cal). Santa Clara is 1-3 against those teams thus far, winning against Cal but losing to Old Dominion, VCU and Pacific.
Game-Winners
• Andres Jimenez scored the game winner in three consecutive Bronco wins dating back to last season until the Cal match (Sept. 22) when an own goal in overtime by a Cal defender helped Santa Clara get a win.
• In the game against Cal Poly (Sept. 18), Jimenez's goal 41 seconds into the match turned out to be the game winner in the 2-0 win.
• In the 2018 season opener, Jimenez scored the game winner on a penalty kick in the 64th minute against San Diego State to help the Broncos to a 2-0 win.
• In last season's final game against San Diego, Jimenez scored the game winner in the 85th minute to give the Broncos a 1-0 win.
Quick Goal
• Andres Jimenez scored 41 seconds into the match against Cal Poly for the second quickest goal scored in Bronco history. Back on Sept. 17, 1991, Alberto Cruz scored the quickest goal, just 29 seconds into the match against CS Sacramento.
Impact Newcomers
• Freshman Sakari Carter has started in all matches this season on the backline.
• Freshman Emil Christensen has started in all but one match this season on the backline. Christensen missed the match against LMU (Oct. 7).
• Freshman Martin Aasen has played in all but one match on the backline missing the Cal game (Sept. 22).
• Sophomore transfer Alan Camacho Soto (from Temple) has played in all matches this season.
• Camacho Soto is second on the team in goals (3) and assists (3). He scored a pair of goals including the game-winner at Georgia State (Sept. 29) in the Broncos 2-1 win.
• Carter and fellow freshman Julian Bravo each scored their first goal as a Bronco in the Sept.10 double overtime loss against Missouri State.
• Eduardo Lopez Perez made his Bronco debut against ODU (Aug. 31) in the third match of the season and has played in each match since then including starting the last eight. Lopez Perez scored his first goal against Cal (Sept. 22) to tie the match up at 2-2 to send it to overtime. Lopez Perez notched his second goal against Xavier (Oct. 2).
• Defender Alejandro Perez logged 69 minutes in his Bronco debut against Xavier (Oct. 2). The freshman from Roseville, California came in as a substitute in the 41st minute and played the rest of the match. Perez made his first Bronco start in the next match against LMU (Oct. 7) playing all 90 minutes and has started every game since.
• The Broncos started an all freshmen backline in the last two matches with Perez, Carter, Christensen and Aasen.
Lineup
• Seven players have played in all games this season: Andres Jimenez, Javier Ruiz Duran, Miles Robinson, Alan Camacho Soto, Sakari Carter, Alex Achramowicz, and Brandon Gillingham.
• Four have started in all games: Jimenez, Ruiz Duran, Carter, and Gillingham.
• Against ODU, six players came in as a substitute, the most this season.
• The Broncos substituted a season-low three players in the games against Cal Poly, Georgia State and LMU.
• In all 13 matches this season, the Broncos have started at least six underclassmen in each match.

Overtime Matches
• Half the Bronco matches this season have gone to overtime where they are 1-5-1.
• Santa Clara lost the first three overtime matches: 2-1 at home against UAB (Aug. 26) in the 103rd minute of double overtime; 1-0 in the 97th minute of overtime at VCU (Sept. 2) and 3-2 in the 108th minutes of double overtime at Missouri State (Sept. 10) before winning against Cal (Sept. 22), 3-2, in the 93rd minute.
• The Broncos played to a 3-3 draw against Xavier (Oct. 2).
• Santa Clara lost the last two matches in overtime at Pacific (Oct. 13) and at Saint Mary's (Oct. 21).
Close Calls
• Against UAB (Aug. 26), the Broncos lost, 2-1, three minutes into double overtime on a penalty kick.
• The Broncos lost, 1-0, in overtime against VCU (Sept. 2).
• Against Missouri State (Sept. 10), the Broncos missed a penalty kick with three seconds remaining in the first overtime, before losing, 3-2, in double overtime.
• Santa Clara lost to UC Davis (Sept. 15), 3-1, after its penalty kick was kick saved by the Aggie goalkeeper in the 79th minute, which would have tied the match.
• With two minutes remaining in double overtime against Xavier (Oct. 2), two Bronco shots hit the post, and settled for a 3-3 draw.
• In the WCC opener against LMU (Oct. 7), leading 1-0, the Broncos gave up two goals in the final two minutes including the game-winner with 29 seconds to lose, 2-1.
• Against Pacific (Oct. 13), the Broncos missed a penalty kick in the 59th minute which would have given them a 3-2 lead, in a match it would eventually lose in double overtime.
• SCU lost to No. 2 Saint Mary's (Oct. 21) in the 97th minute of overtime, 2-1.
Miscellaneous
• The Broncos have faced three opponents for the first time in its history this season: Old Dominion (Aug. 31), Missouri State (Sept. 10) and Georgia State (Sept. 29).
• Javir Ruiz Duran and Miles Robinson scored two goals in a game for the first time in their Bronco careers this season. Ruiz Duran against Pacific (Oct. 13) and Robinson against Gonzaga (Oct. 26).
'State' Schools
• The season opener against San Diego State was the third consecutive match the Broncos faced a "State" school. Santa Clara's first two preseason matches came against Sacramento State and San José State.
• The Broncos faced Missouri State on Sept. 10 and faced the last of the 'State' schools in Georgia State (Sept. 29).
