Ian Sarachan was named Santa Clara University men’s soccer assistant coach in April 2016. Prior to Santa Clara, Sarachan spent two seasons in the same role under head coach John Trask at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at Wisconsin, Sarachan helped the Badgers reach their first NCAA appearance in 18 seasons.
 
A four-year starter at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Sarachan helped the Flames reach NCAA Round of 32, NCAA Sweet Sixteen and NCAA Elite Eight appearances. During the 2007 NCAA appearance, Sarachan scored against Northwestern and Creighton, finishing tied for third in overall goals.
 
Following his playing days at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Sarachan spent time working as a professional soccer agent with Wasserman Media Group. While at Wasserman he represented multiple players, including Ethan Finlay, a top-ten pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft and current LA Galaxy midfielder Baggio Husidic.
 
Sarachan broke into the coaching ranks as an assistant coach for the LA Galaxy's U-14 and U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-16 teams in July 2012. He was then named assistant coach of the Galaxy's USSDA U-18 team in January 2012 where he worked with current LAFC assistant coach, Ante Razov. 
 
Sarachan was named assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin heading into the 2013 NCAA season. In addition to helping the Badgers to an appearance in the 2013 NCAA tournament, Sarachan was instrumental in the recruiting and development of Orlando City forward Chris Mueller, Chicago Fire midfielder Drew Conner, New York Red Bull forward Tom Barlow and New England Revolution midfielder Mark Segbers.
 
Sarachan is the son of Dave Sarachan, current US Men’s National Team manager and longtime professional coach. He and wife, Rea, currently reside in San Jose with daughter, Shay, and son, Edison.
