Postgame Quotes: Santa Clara 1, San Jose State 1

Sept. 24, 2008

Recap |  Box Score

Head Coach Cameron Rast

On the game:
"We had some really good stretches. There were some dangerous moments but we played really tough tonight. We didn't give it away at all. Even the goal that was scored against us, we didn't give it away. It was an excellent goal and a well taken opportunity, and I'm okay with that. We had a chance to win it. We have to be more in sync at times, but I am definitely not disappointed with our performance tonight."

On Stephen McCarthy's goal:
"We talked to the team about getting back on track and executing the set pieces, and we were doing that tonight. There was the throw-in, the ball bounced back to us, we were able to bring the goalkeeper out and Stephen did a great job of placing that ball."

On what the team needs to do against Stanford:
"Both tonight's game and the game against Stanford are going to be great preparation for us for conference play next week. Doing well in the WCC is vitally important for us to get a bid to the NCAA Tournament. I'm focusing more on how our team performs in these two games that on the result. A win would be great. We want the wins but we need to prove that if we do enough right things, we can win."
