Oct. 19, 2002

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's tennis team continued fall action at the Tiger Fall Classic, hosted this weekend by University of the Pacific at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts.

Sophomore Erich Chen, seeded second in this weekend's tournament, defeated Brian Casey of UC Santa Cruz 6-3, 6-4 before falling in the semifinal to Vincent Kubler of Pacific 0-6, 6-1, 7-5.

"It was a little tough luck for Erich to lose in semifinal, but it was a tough match," head coach George Husack said. "He and Michael Bruggemann reached their second doubles final in two weeks, so we hope they can take this one home."

Santa Clara remains at the tournament through Sunday.
