SANTA CLARA, Calif. -  Fresh off of the most successful season in program history, the Santa Clara men's tennis squad has achieved another program first. Junior John Lamble will be the first Bronco to play in the Main Draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American Championship in Tulsa, Okla.

The All-American Championship's Main Draw begins Thurs., Oct. 4. Lamble, who qualified for the main draw by being ranked No. 40 nationally by the ITA, will battle some of the country's top singles players during the tournament.

"I'm really proud of John," said Santa Clara head coach Derek Mills. "I know he is really excited to play in this tournament and something he deserves. This is a great opportunity for him to to be the first player from Santa Clara in the main draw of the All American Tournament."

Last season, Lamble served as the Broncos' No. 2 singles players and was a major contributor to Santa Clara's success. His high preseason ranking this year was largely due to his success at the end of the season last year in which he had two wins against ITA ranked players during Santa Clara's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Lamble downed No. 102 Daniel Whitehead of Texas in three sets to help the Broncos notch their first NCAA victory. He also picked up an impressive win against No. 27 Ryan Thacher of Stanford. He finished the 2011-12 season ranked No. 77, the highest ranking for a Santa Clara player in a final poll.

Lamble is the Broncos' first player to compete in the All-American Main Draw, adding yet another program first. Additionally, Lamble's pace puts him in line to break Santa Clara's  all-time win record.
