Three Broncos Competing at Aggie Invitational Hosted by UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. - Fresh off the most successful season in program history, the Santa Clara University men's tennis squad is set to make one of its first tournament appearances of the year at the Aggie Invitational hosted by UC Davis. Three Broncos are set to compete in the weekend event.

Reigning West Coast Conference (WCC) Freshman of the Year, Ilya Osintsev (pictured) is starting off his sophomore campaign with a splash. Ostinsev, ranked No. 103 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national singles rankings, received the No. 1 seed at the tournament. He will begin play today, Friday, Oct. 5, against Saint Mary's Toumas Mannel.

Back for his senior season, Tom Pham will begin fall play with a Friday match against Niranjan Ram of Sacramento State. Pham is coming off a 23-win season as a junior and was an All-WCC Honorable Mention honoree in both singles and doubles.

Eugene Muchynski, who had a breakout campaign as a junior, will begin his senior season with a Friday pairing against Gregory Bayane of Cal.

The Broncos also have a doubles team entered in the tournament. Muchynski and Pham were awarded the No. 2 seed and begin play against Sam Bloore and Thomas Hunt of Saint Mary's. Last season Muchynski and Pham paired together four times - all during dual matches - and posted a 2-2 record together.

The Broncos will compete through the weekend. Please check back for a tournament wrap up!
