SEATTLE, Wash. - The No. 36 Broncos men's tennis team took on a talented and tough opponent on Friday in Seattle. Facing off against No. 22 Washington - the Huskies did not drop a match on their home court, taking the match 4-0.
Santa Clara is now 3-2 on the season while Washington is 4-2. Both the Broncos losses this season have come to top 25 teams.
Santa Clara plays No. 38 Boise State Saturday in a rematch of the consolation match during last weekend's ITA Kick-Off weekend. The Broncos will look to get back into the winning column at 2 pm at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Despite a strong 4-1 win against No. 38 Boise State in its previous match, Santa Clara was overmatched by the powerful Washington squad. Earlier in the season, Washington proved it is a dangerous team to play, upsetting then-No. 17 Tulsa 4-3.
The Husky squad was led by senior Kyle McMorrow, a two-time All-Pac-12 First Team honoree who was ranked as high as No. 9 in the country last season. Earlier this season, McMorrow faced No. 6 Sebastian Fanselow of the Pepperdine Waves and triumphed in three sets.
