  • Broncos Set Commissioner's Honor Roll Record for Second Straight Year

    The West Coast Conference announced its 13th annual Commissioner's Honor Roll Tuesday, and 141 Santa Clara Broncos were recognized with honors for their athletic success and academic excellence. Santa Clara had 18 student-athletes receive gold honors (3.75-4.00 GPA) and 33 student-athletes receive silver honors (3.50-3.74 GPA). The Broncos set a new record of student athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, breaking the previous mark of 133 in the 2012-13 school year.

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. - For its consistent success on the court throughout the duration of the 2013-14 campaign, the Santa Clara men’s tennis team earned the No. 56 overall ranking in the nation as determined by the ITA. In the Northwest Region, the team locked up the No. 4 overall ranking.

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. – John Lamble was named the Senior Player of the Year for the Northwest Region by the ITA, earning recognition for his exceptional accomplishments and leadership on and off the court throughout his career. The award is another terrific honor for the decorated Bronco senior, who has had one of most illustrious careers in program history.

    SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference league office announced its Men’s All-Tournament Team on Saturday, and John Lamble and Ilya Osintsev were both honored. The outstanding Bronco duo was named the No. 1 team for the doubles squad. Osintsev was selected as the No. 2 player in the singles lineup.

The Broncos wrapped up the dual match season with back-to-back shutout wins over Pacific and St. Mary’s last weekend, and finished 5-4 in conference matches.

The Broncos made an impressive comeback to win the doubles point and they kept rolling in singles to finish the regular season strongly. In the last home match of his career, Bronco senior John Lamble earned the clinching victory for his 80th career singles win.

At No. 39 in the country, Oregon becomes the highest-ranked team that Santa Clara has defeated this season.

    The Santa Clara University men's and women's tennis teams will host its 2nd Annual SCU Tennis Yam Cup, a rare opportunity to play with the student-athletes and support both programs.     SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 67 men's tennis team split a pair of WCC matches this weekend, defeating BYU handily in a 6-1 final on Saturday and falling to USD, 4-0, on Friday. In the BYU match, John Lamble picked up his 16th victory of the season and his 76th career win, moving him into second place for all-time singles wins.

Santa Clara is ranked No. 67 nationally in the latest ITA poll and has an 11-4 record in 2014. The team is 8-1 at home, 2-3 on the road, and 1-0 at neutral sites.

    The No. 57 Santa Clara men’s tennis team returned home Friday and got back to its winning ways with a 7-0 victory over Willamette College. After hitting the road for its first four West Coast Conference matches, posting a 2-2 record, Santa Clara will host San Diego on April 4 and BYU on April 5.

  • Bronco Men's Tennis Falls At LMU

    Playing its third straight West Coast Conference match on the road, No. 53 Santa Clara fell 4-0 at LMU on Monday afternoon. The Broncos are 10-3 and 2-1 in the WCC and the Lions are 10-5 and 2-2 in the WCC. LMU has won six straight matches. The order of finish was 2-3 in doubles and 6-4-3 in singles.
