SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis continues West Coast Conference action this weekend as it heads to Pacific for a match on Friday at 1 p.m. PT and then plays at St. Mary's on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Santa Clara improved to 11-3 (1-2 WCC) on the year after splitting last week's weekend matches against Portland and Gonzaga. The Broncos lost 4-2 to the Pilots on Saturday but came back to defeat Gonzaga 4-1 on Sunday after losing the doubles point.

"We've been looking for how we would respond to adversity all year," head coach Niall Angus said. "We've been fortunate in that things have gone our way so the match against Gonzaga last weekend showed how deep we can dig. We are looking to continue that and improve upon the performance against Gonzaga. We want to come away with two wins against good teams."

SCU won the doubles point in three of its last four matches, a point of focus for Angus. Overall, the Broncos have lost the doubles point seven times this year and come back to win the match on five occasions.

"I think the important thing is going to be our fight," Angus said. "You have to be 20 percent better than your opponent to win on the road so it's going be to important for us to prepare well in practice and come out and fight like always."

Sophomore Robert Seby boasts a 7-5 singles record in dual match play with each match coming on court one. Sophomore Andrew Gu is 10-2 playing on court two and has won seven of his last 10 matches including seven in a row. Sophomore Connor Garnett has gone 8-2 in his last 10 matches and is 12-2 on court three in dual match play. The trio has combined for a 29-9 record in singles play.

Freshman Jesus Tapiador Barajas owns a 7-5 record on court four for SCU. Freshman Vasileios Iliopoulos is 8-4 in match play (1-0 on court four and 7-4 on court five), including the clinching win for the Broncos at LSU (Feb. 3). Kamran Khan is 1-0 on court five this year and 5-3 on court six.

Pacific is 8-11 (1-3 WCC) on the year and will play Utah on Wednesday before hosting SCU on Friday. The Tigers beat San Francisco on March 11 and Fresno State on March 13 but have lost their last four matches since.

St. Mary's owns a record of 6-9 (1-2 WCC) for the season, beating Loyola Marymount last weekend for its first league win. That win also snapped a two-match losing streak for the Gaels. Damon Kesaris is 7-3 in dual match play, going 4-0 on court one and 3-3 on court two for the season.
