SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis squares off against San Francisco on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT for the final match of the season at Degheri Tennis Center.

"I think the team knows what is up for grabs in this match," head coach Niall Angus said. "They are a very good team. We managed to beat them 4-3 last year but also lost to them 4-3 earlier in the year last year so we know the caliber of their team. We've pretty much echoed their results all season and know we are similar."

Santa Clara improved to 14-4 (4-3 WCC) on the season after splitting last weekend's matches against Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine. The Broncos won 4-2 against the Lions but fell 4-1 against the Waves of Pepperdine.

SCU will look to bounce back on Saturday in doubles action after dropping the point in both matches last weekend. Overall, the Broncos have lost the doubles point eight times this year but come back to win the match on five occasions.

"It's going to be about who wants to fight more," Angus said. "It's going to be about who is ready to accept the challenge. I think playing at home is really going to help us. The guys are preparing really well this week and I think we're in a good position to do good things."

Sophomore Robert Seby boasts a 9-7 singles record in dual match play with each match coming on court one. Sophomore Andrew Gu is 12-4 playing on court two and has won seven of his last 10 matches. Sophomore Connor Garnett has gone 6-2 in his last 10 matches and is 13-3 on court three in dual match play. The trio has combined for a 34-14 record in singles play.

Freshman Jesus Tapiador Barajas owns a 9-5 record on court four for SCU and had the match-clinching victory for the Broncos at Pacific (March 31). Freshman Vasileios Iliopoulos is 11-5 in match play (1-0 on court four and 10-5 on court five), including the clinching win for the Broncos at LSU (Feb. 3). Kamran Khan is 1-0 on court five this year and 6-5 on court six.

San Francisco is tied with Santa Clara in the WCC standings as both teams own 4-3 league records. The Dons are 9-12 overall on the year and have won three straight matches against St. Mary's, Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine.
