Men’s Tennis Continues Strong Showing at Aggie Invitational

DAVIS, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis has gotten off to a strong start to the season as the Broncos followed up an impressive opening day showing in the Aggie Invitational at UC Davis with another solid performance on Saturday.

On Friday, the Broncos won seven of eight singles matches and claimed victories in five doubles matchups in the non team-scored three-day tournament that features players from Nevada, Saint Mary's, Sacramento State, Pacific, San Francisco, Stanford, Cal, Gonzaga, Portland and the host Aggies in three singles draws and two in doubles.

Saturday saw Jesus Tapiador Barajas reach the semifinal round in the A draw of singles and Robert Seby and Kamran Khan team up to secure a spot in the final of the B draw in doubles.

Tapiador Barajas knocked off Seby 6-2, 7-6(6) in the singles quarterfinal and will face Bjorn Hoffmann of Cal in one of Sunday's semis.

Seby and Khan downed Dylan Levitt and Kostya Nesterenko of Nevada 8-5 in Saturday morning's doubles semifinal round at Mayra Welch Tennis Center.

The Santa Clara duo, the top seed in the draw, will face Matthew Campana and Calvin Jordaan of St. Mary's in the final at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
