Men’s Tennis Set To Battle San Francisco And Cal Poly This Weekend
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Coming off two big conference wins at home last weekend, Santa Clara men's tennis will head up the peninsula to play WCC foe San Francisco on Saturday before making the trek down to Cal Poly for a non-conference match on Sunday.  The first serve for both matches are at 1 p.m. PT.

"I don't think you could've written a script like last weekend," said Broncos head coach Niall Angus.  "For us to get two wins was vitally important to our chances to make the conference tournament.  But to do it against BYU and San Diego, especially on senior weekend, and have Seb (Sebastien Mathieu) our lone senior clinch the matches on both days, it was a fantastic step in making our goal of qualifying for the tournament.  But we still have a lot of work to do."

Santa Clara (11-8, 3-3 WCC) is currently fifth in the conference standings with San Francisco (6-15, 2-4 WCC) a game behind in seventh place.  The top six teams qualify for the conference tournament (April 25 – 28) in Claremont, California.

Saturday's match is senior day for San Francisco before playing the final two regular season matches on the road at Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount.  The Dons won its first two matches in conference play but have dropped its last four.

The non-conference match against Cal Poly on Sunday is to make up for the match from March 3, which was postponed due to rain.  The Mustangs (15-5) have played four WCC schools, going 3-1, beating Pacific, San Francisco and Saint Mary's while losing to LMU.
