Men’s Tennis Beats Uptown Rival San Francisco On Saturday
SAN FRANCISCO – Santa Clara men's tennis won four singles matches, including three in a row, to defeat San Francisco 4-2 in West Coast Conference action on Saturday.  Senior Sebastien Mathieu recorded the match clincher for the third straight contest.  
 
After dropping the doubles point, the Broncos (12-8, 4-3 WCC) evened the match 1-1 on Connor Garnett's 6-4, 6-1 win over Ryan Marker on court three.  Garnett picked up his 15th singles win of the dual match season, topping the team in that category.  
 
The Dons (6-16, 2-5 WCC) retook the lead 2-1 on court two when Johan Joenhagen downed Jesus Tapiador Barajas 6-2, 6-3.  
 
Santa Clara then reeled off three consecutive singles victories including Sebastien Mathieu's clincher on court six defeating Marco Barretto in three sets 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.  
For Mathieu, it was his third consecutive match clincher following last weekend's victories over BYU and San Diego.  Mathieu has the best singles winning percentage on the team with a 7-0 record.  
 
Rob Seby, playing on court four for the first time this season downed Oliver Poysti 6-4, 6-4 and Vasileious Iliopoulos needed three sets to beat Paul Giraud 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on court five to pick up the other singles wins for the Broncos.  
 
Connor Garnett won in both singles and doubles on the day.  Playing on court three in doubles play, Garnett teamed with Kamran Khan to defeat Giraud and Barretto 6-3 for the lone Bronco doubles win.  
 
Santa Clara will travel to San Luis Obispo, California on Saturday to take on Cal Poly in a non-conference match at 1 p.m. PT.
