Men’s Tennis Shut Out At LMU On Friday
LOS ANGELES – Needing a win to clinch a WCC tournament berth, Santa Clara men's tennis was shut out 4-0 by Loyola Marymount on Friday at the LMU Tennis Center. The Broncos will get another crack when it faces Pepperdine in Malibu, California on Saturday in the regular season finale.  
 
LMU (16-5, 6-2 WCC) won the doubles point winning its matches on courts two and one.  
 
On court two, Nick Borchenko and Lukas Moenter downed Andrew Gu and Robert Seby 6-2.  The Lions clinched the double point with a 6-3 win by Charles Boyce and Lucas Moreno over Vasileios Iliopoulos and Jesus Tapiador Barajas on court one.  
 
In singles play, the Lions won on courts six, four and three over the Broncos (12-10, 4-4 WCC) to sweep the match marking the first time the Broncos have been blanked this season.  
 
Charles Boyce defeated Sebastien Mathieu 6-3, 6-1 on court six, followed by Errol Smith's win over Seby 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 on court four.   
 
The Lions clinched the match on court three when Moreno took down Connor Garnett in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, snapping Garnett's five match win streak.  
 
Santa Clara will travel north to Malibu on Saturday to take on the Waves of Pepperdine with an opportunity to clinch a conference tournament berth.  First serve is at 2 p.m. PT.
