Men’s Tennis – Four Broncos Recognized With All-Conference Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Four Santa Clara men's tennis team players garnered All-West Coast Conference honors, the conference office announced on Wednesday.  
 
Junior Andrew Gu was named to the All-WCC Singles First Team.  Junior Connor Garnett and sophomore Jesus Tapiador Barajas were named All-WCC Singles Honorable Mention while Gu and junior Robert Seby were named All-WCC Doubles Honorable Mention.  
 
The all-conference voting and major awards were voted by the 10 conference head coaches.  
 
Gu boasted a singles record of 10-6, all on court one, in dual match play including 2-2 in WCC matches.  The junior from El Cerrito, California was named Second Team All-Conference last season.  
 
Garnett posted a team best 17-4 singles record (4-1 on court three and 13-4 in court four) in dual matches and a 7-2 record in conference play.  Tapiador Barajas owns a 13-7 singles record (5-5 on court two and 8-2 in court three) with a 3-5 WCC record.  This is the first time either players have been recognized to an All-Conference team in singles play.  Garnett was named All-WCC Doubles Honorable Mention in his freshman and sophomore seasons while Tapiador Barajas was named the same last season in his freshman campaign.  
 
Gu and Seby teamed up in doubles to go 12-6 in the dual match season playing all its matches on court one going 4-4 in conference play.  
 
This is the first time Gu and Seby have been recognized by the conference in doubles.  
 
Portland's Michail Pervolarakis, who the Broncos will face in the opening round of the WCC Tournament on Thursday at 10 a.m. PT, was named WCC Player of the Year.  San Diego's August Holmgren was named Freshman of the Year and Toreros Head Coach Ryan Keckley was named Coach of the Year.
