SEATTLE – Santa Clara men's tennis senior Andrew Gu is among the final eight players remaining in the 121-player singles draw at the ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championships after defeating Portland's Nicklas Oberg on Saturday.
Gu defeated Oberg in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2, in the round of 16 on the courts of Nordstrom Tennis Center at the University of Washington. The Bronco senior will next face Stanford's William Genesen with a spot in the semifinals on the line. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Santa Clara freshman Arthur Neuhaus' bid to join Gu among the quarterfinalists came short when he was defeated by Stanford's Timothy Sah, 6-3, 6-1.
