Men’s Tennis Signs One Time No. 1 Under-16 Player from Slovenia
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis signed Nick Cmager, who was the No. 1 under-16 player in Slovenia, to a National Letter-Of-Intent to the join the program for the 2019-20 season.  Broncos head coach Niall Angus made the announcement.

"I chose Santa Clara because I believe its stimulating environment with its top notch facilities will allow me to develop both as a student and tennis player.  Coach Angus and his great team are sure to provide me opportunities for vast improvement both on and off court," said Cmager.

The right-handed Cmager was a singles finalist at the ITF Stobrec (grade 5) and was a multiple national vice-champion in singles and national champion in doubles in his native Slovenia.

"From everything we gathered from Nick as a person and player, he is going to be someone that's going to be a hardworking, key member of the team," said Angus.  "Nick competes hard so that fits into our team culture.  He is aggressive from the baseline but still likes to move forward and is a natural volley-er so we think he can evolve to be a good doubles player as well as a singles player."

The Broncos open up their 2019 spring campaign at Stanford on Jan. 15.
