Men’s Tennis Hosts Two Matches on Sunday in Spring Season Home Opener
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis hosts UC Santa Cruz and Sonoma State in the spring season home opener on Sunday.  The first serve against the Banana Slugs is scheduled at 10 a.m. and against the Seaswolves at 2 p.m. at the Degheri Tennis Center

"The home opener is an opportunity for our players to set the tone for the season.  We've been successful at home so it's about making Degheri Tennis Center a fortress for our opponents to come in and be scared to play us," said third year head coach Niall Angus whose teams are 19-4 overall at home during his tenure.  "That starts from match one and getting the attitude right."

The Broncos will look to bounce back from the season opening loss to No. 10 Stanford last week.

"Going up against Stanford was an opportunity to play against some of the top players in the country.  For the first match of the spring, I think it was a great barometer and a good way to test ourselves and see where we are at," said Angus.

The home opener will also feature the debut of a newly installed live streaming system.  For every home match, viewers can go to this link (https://www.santaclarabroncos.com/livetennis) and follow the live action on each of the six courts.

"The live stream capability gives us visibility to not just our alumni and fans but also to give the general public an idea of what Santa Clara tennis is all about.  I think even more importantly than that, a lot of our players are from different states and countries so it gives the ability for their parents, family and friends to be able to watch them play a match," said Angus.

The current Broncos roster is comprised for players from four states and four countries.
