Men’s Tennis Cruise Past Sacramento State, 6-1, on Saturday
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to cruise past Sacramento State, 6-1, in a nonconference match on Saturday.  
 
Connor Garnett defeated Hermont Legaspi in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, on court three to clinch the match for the Broncos.
 
Playing on the road for the fifth time in the last six contests, Santa Clara (6-3) took control of the match from the onset when it won all three doubles matches.  
 
On court two, Vasileios Iliopoulos and Arthur Neuhaus defeated Johannes Gjerdaker and Josh Snowdon-Poole, 6-3, followed by the doubles point clincher by Andrew Gu and Jesus Barajas over Mikus Losbergs and Louis Chabut, 6-4, on court one.  
 
In singles play, Gu put the Broncos up 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dom Miller on court two.  
 
Sacramento State (4-5) got its lone point when Gjerdakeer beat Kamran Khan, 6-0, 6-1, on court five to close the gap to 2-1.  But the Broncos closed out the match with four straight singles wins including the clincher by Garnett.  
 
NEXT UP
The Broncos return home to play three matches next weekend, hosting Cal Poly and Holy Names on Saturday and  Nevada on Sunday in a rescheduled match from an earlier postponement.
