San Diego State (9-7) of the Mountain West Conference are 8-5 at home and have won two of the three matches its faced against West Coast Conference opponents, beating San Francisco, 4-3 and Portland, 5-2 but losing to San Diego, 4-0.  The Aztecs face Fresno State on Friday before playing Santa Clara.

Santa Clara's match against the San Diego (14-4, 4-1 WCC) will be a key conference battle as the Toreros sit at third place in the conference standings with a 4-1 conference record, ahead of the 3-2 Broncos.  The Toreros are coming off a 4-3 loss at No. 42 BYU last weekend that snapped its eight-match winning streak.  Last season, the Broncos handed San Diego its lone conference defeat of the season.  The Toreros are 8-0 at home this season.
