SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis qualified for the third consecutive post-season play as it will face BYU in the opening round of the West Coast Conference Tournament on Thursday in Claremont, California.  First serve is at 1 p.m. PT.

"We are playing well and we have everyone healthy and fit.  It's going to be an exciting opportunity to try to beat a school we lost to from earlier in the season," said third-year Broncos head coach Niall Angus.

Santa Clara (15-7, 5-4 West Coast Conference) opened conference play at BYU (17-5, 6-3 WCC) back on Feb. 9 and lost, 4-0 with a trio of singles matches going to three-sets.

"We played BYU right at the beginning of the year on their home courts.  It's a lot different playing indoors and playing in altitude.  Our players will be a lot more confident going into a match played at sea level and outdoors," said Angus.

The conference tournament will be held at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

Santa Clara enters the tournament having won three of its last four matches while the Cougars have lost the last two matches, having last played back on April 13.

The Broncos were 4-6 away from home including 1-0 on neutral courts this season while the Cougars were 5-5 including 2-1 at neutral site courts.

The winner of the Santa Clara and BYU match will advance to the semifinals to play second seed Gonzaga on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
