Men’s Tennis – Three Broncos Recognized With All-Conference Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Three Santa Clara men's tennis team players garnered All-West Coast Conference honors, the conference office announced on Wednesday.  
 
Senior Andrew Gu was named to the All-WCC Singles First Team.  Senior Robert Seby and junior Jesus Tapiador Barajas were named All-WCC Singles Honorable Mention.  Gu and Seby were named All-WCC Doubles Honorable Mention.  
 
The all-conference voting and major awards were voted by the 10 conference head coaches.  
 
During the dual match season, Gu posted an 11-6 singles record playing at either courts No. 1 or 2, including 2-2 in WCC matches.  This was the second year in a row the senior from El Cerrito, California was named to the Singles First Team and third overall recognition having been named to the Second Team his sophomore campaign.  
 
Seby had a team best 14-4 singles record (5-2 on court four, 6-1 on court five and 3-1 on court six) in dual match play and a 4-2 record in conference play.  The Oro Valley, Arizona, native was named Singles Honorable Mention as a freshman and Singles Second Team as a sophomore.  
 
Tapiador Barajas had a 7-6 singles record including 4-4 playing on court one and 3-2 on court two to earn his second Singles Honorable Mention recognition.  The Madrid, Spain, product garnered his first recognition after his sophomore season last year.  
 
Gu and Seby teamed up in doubles to go 9-3 in the dual match season playing all its matches on court one going 6-2 in conference play.  
 
This is the second time Gu and Seby have been recognized by the conference in doubles play.  
 
The Broncos are set to play BYU in the opening round of the WCC Tournament on Thursday at 1 p.m. PT.
 
San Diego's Gui Osorio was named WCC Player of the Year.  Portland's Sema Pankin was named Freshman of the Year and Toreros Head Coach Ryan Keckley was named Coach of the Year.
