Garnett, Seby Recognized with WCC Men’s Tennis All-Academic Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis players Connor Garnett and Robert Seby earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors, announced by the WCC on Tuesday.  
 
Garnett, a senior, carries a 3.463 grade point average (GPA) and posted a 17-13 overall record in singles playing at No. 2 and 3 spots in the lineup and was 11-12 in doubles primarily at No. 3.  Majoring in finance, Garnett was named to the WCC All-Academic Team for the third time.  
 
Seby, a senior majoring in biochemistry, has a 3.725 GPA to also earn his third WCC All-Academic Team honors.  Last week, the Oro Valley, Arizona, native was named All-WCC Singles and Doubles Honorable Mention.  
 
Seby tied for the team lead in overall singles wins with a 22-9 record and had a team-best 15-5 record in dual match play from the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots in the lineup.  In doubles, he tied for the team-lead in overall doubles wins with an 18-12 record including a team-best 16-8 dual match record playing at both No. 1 and 3.  
 
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad.  To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to his team.  Also the student-athlete must have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one year in residence completed at the nominating institution.
