Men’s Tennis Player Advances in Doubles and Singles at ITA Northwest Regional Championships

2019 ITA Northwest Regional Championships Draws/Results

STANFORD, Calif.Jesus Tapiador Barajas advanced to the round of 32 in both doubles and singles at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Friday, winning all three of his matches.  
 
Tapiador Barajas teamed with Santiago Hinojosa to defeat the Sacramento State duo of Abdulaziz Al Bayouk and Michael Vizcarra, 8-2.   The Bronco duo will next face Stanford's Neel Rajesh and Timothy Sah on Saturday morning. 
 
Vasileios Iliopoulos and Arthur Neuhaus joined Tapiador Barajas and Hinojosa in the doubles round of 32, beating Wout Doumen and Erik Grimes of Eastern Washington, 8-4.  They will face another Stanford doubles teamof Filip Kolasinski and Tomas Kopczynski on Saturday.  
 
In singles play, three Broncos – Tapiador Barajas, Iliopoulos and Nick Cmager – won their round of 128 matches with Tapiador Barajas advancing to the round of 32. 
 
The Bronco senior beat Ryan Nakajima of Portland State, 6-1, 6-2, before taking down Matis Bot of Saint Mary's, 6-3, 6-3.  He will next face Cal's Paul Barretto on Saturday afternoon.  
 
Cmager beat Oregon's Evan Felcher 6-3, 6-4 but lost to Oliver Andersson of Gonzaga, 6-4, 6-4, in the round of 64.  
 
Iliopoulos was victorious over Thibault Cancel of Washington, 6-4, 6-3, before losing to Cal's Dominic Barretto, 6-4, 7-5.
