Men’s Tennis Hosts Utah State on Wednesday
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis hosts Utah State on Wednesday to kick start a stretch of six straight home matches.  First serve is at 2 p.m.

After playing nine of the first 11 matches on the road to start the spring season, the Broncos (4-7) are back home at Degheri Tennis Center where they boast a 31-5 record since the 2016-17 season including 2-0 this spring.

SCU is coming off a tough 5-2 loss on the road at Fresno State over the weekend but Broncos head coach Niall Angus was encouraged with the performance of his squad.

"We had a really close match with Fresno State.  Despite the loss, I think it's one of the most positive matches we've played all season.  We came away from the match with some underlying confidence and the beginning of momentum to take into our home stretch.  I'm really excited to play Utah State and see if we can continue that trajectory we started last weekend."

Last season, SCU and Utah State battled it out in Logan, Utah, where the Aggies won a tightly contested match 5-2 winning all three matches that went the three-set distance.

This season Utah State (3-10) has struggled away from home going 0-8 in neutral site and true road matches.  The Aggies are currently on a west coast swing with weekend losses against UC Santa Barbara and Drake in Santa Barbara and to LMU in Los Angeles on Monday.

"Utah State is a new team this year.  It'll still be a battle and we are looking forward to testing ourselves against them," said Angus.

Vasileios Iliopoulos has a team-high six match win streak in singles play.
