SAN DIEGO – San Diego won four-straight singles matches to defeat Santa Clara men's tennis 4-1 in a West Coast Conference matchup on Sunday.
David Norfeldt defeated Arthur Neuhaus 6-4, 6-4 on court three to secure the team win for San Diego (7-9, 4-2) and snap Santa Clara's three-game win streak.
Santa Clara (6-7, 3-4) got off to a fast start collecting the doubles point courtesy of Arthur Neuhaus and Vasileios Iliopoulos' 6-4 win over No. 77 ranked Augst Holmgren and David Norfeldt on court one.
That win followed a 6-3 victory by Dominic Barretto and Guillaume Dalmasso over Marvin Schaber and Garrett Kurtz on court two.
The Broncos were unable to sustain the momentum in singles action as the Toreros reeled off four-straight victories.
Kurtz evened the team score at 1-all with his 6-1, 6-2 win over Santiago Hinojosa on court five.
The Toreros went up 2-1 when No. 68-ranked Holmgren took down Mann Shah 6-2, 6-4 at the top of the lineup.
Nico Borter gave USD a 3-1 lead when he defeated Barretto 7-5, 6-2 on court two.
