Men’s Tennis Player Moves onto Quarterfinals at ITA Regionals

MORAGA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's tennis player Guillaume Dalmasso won his singles match on Friday to move onto the quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships and punched a ticket to the Super Regionals next week in Seattle. 

The sophomore from Aix en Provence, France took care of Sacramento State's Ori Maior 7-5, 6-3 in the round of 16.  The main draw's eight quarterfinalists for singles automatically qualify for the ITA Super Regionals.  Dalmasso will continue his run at the Regionals and face Phuc Huynh of San Francisco on Saturday. 

Teammate Arthur Neuhaus looked to join Dalmasso in the quarterfinals but was defeated by Stanford's Aryan Chaudhary 6-2, 6-3. 

In the consolation singles round, Ryan Ali was victorious over Pacific's Liam Puttergill 6-3, 7-5 while Nick Cmager lost to Cal's Lucas Magnaudet 6-4, 6-4. 

The five-day tournament which began in Wednesday is played at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex on the campus of Saint Mary's College. 

The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country.  Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country.  In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending ITA National Fall Championships.
