Men’s Tennis Trio Ousted in Opening Rounds at Super Regionals on Friday

SEATTLE – Santa Clara men's tennis had a trio of qualifiers – Guillaume Dalmasso, Arthur Neuhaus and Mann Shah – at the ITA Northwest Super Regional Championship but each lost their opening round matches on Friday.

Dalmasso, who entered the tournament having won seven of his first nine singles matches this fall including being a finalist at the ITA Regionals last week, fell 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) to Cal's Philip Hjorth in the round of 32.

Shah was undefeated on the year, reeling off four-straight victories en route to capturing the top-flight singles title at the UC Davis Aggie Invitational earlier in the month, but lost in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 to San Francisco's Nitzan Ricklis.

Later in the day, Dalmasso teamed up with Neuhaus in the doubles round of 16 where they were dropped 8-6 by Pacific's Sema Pankin and Eleftherios Neos.

The singles consolation rounds will be held on Saturday with Dalmasso facing Adam Torocsik and Shah against Jack Pulliam, both from the University of Washington at 9 a.m. Pacific.  Neuhaus will play Stanford's Tomas Kopczynski at 10:15 a.m.
