SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's tennis dropped their home finale 4-0 against Cal Poly on Wednesday at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Broncos (8-10) got off to a good start claiming the first doubles match when James Bell and Nick Cmager defeated Noah Berry and Fernando Fonseca 6-2 on court two. However, the Mustangs (15-4) took the next two matches to earn the doubles point. The doubles point clincher came down to a tiebreak where Bastiaan Weststrate and Colter Smith beat Arthur Neuhaus and Mann Shah 7-6 (7-4) on court one.
Cal Poly quickly went up 2-0 when Neuhaus was forced to retire atop the singles lineup.
Westrate downed Cmager 6-1, 6-3 at court five to put the Mustangs up 3-0 with the match clincher coming shortly after on court fourth when Fernando Fonseca beat Santiage Hinojosa 6-4, 6-1.
