STANFORD, Calif. - Santa Clara men's tennis had a promising start to the 2023 spring season when they split the first two doubles matches against No. 13 Stanford, however, the Cardinal picked up the doubles point en route to a 4-0 victory on Sunday.
The Broncos (0-1) dropped the first doubles match but Guillaume Dalmasso and Christian Lerby defeated Max Basing and Anders Matta, 6-3, on court two to push the doubles decision to the top flight match. Stanford's number one pair, Arthur Fery and Neel Rajesh, downed Arthur Neuhaus and Mann Shah to earn the doubles point and put the Cardinal up 1-0 on the team score.
For Lerby, it was his first action as a Bronco after transferring mid-year from Arizona State.
In singles action, Neel Rajesh lost only one point, 6-1, 6-0, against Jack Pulliam on court four for a 2-0 Stanford lead.
Fery followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Neuhaus before No. 7-ranked Max Basing clinched the match with a straight-set victory over Dalmasso, 6-4, 6-3.
