Provo, Utah - The Santa Clara men's tennis team lost to No. 65 BYU in Provo, Utah on Friday, 8-0. BYU moves to 5-2 and the Broncos fall to 1-1. Santa Clara had not played since Jan. 31 due to inclement weather, having five of their first six matches rained out.

Santa Clara plays No. 48 Denver on Saturday in Provo before returning home to California.

"This was a tough match for us, but I am proud of the way our No. 1 and No. 2 singles players rallied to the third set in their matches," said Santa Clara head coach Derek Mills. "We knew this weekend was going to be tough, but this is a good eye-opener for us because this is where we want to be next year with our team talent-wise."

Jay Wong won the first set 6-4 against No. 1 singles opponent Evan Urbina of BYU, but lost the next two sets 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 singles Kyle Dandan also won the first set 6-4 against his opponent Romas Warias, but lost the next two sets 6-1, 6-2.
