Men's Tennis Drops First Round Match to Pepperdine

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In the first round of the West Coast Conference tournament, the Santa Clara men's tennis team fell to top seeded No. 17 Pepperdine 4-0. The Broncos got off to a rough start and lost the doubles point to put them at a disadvantage heading into singles play. The Waves Dan Moss clinched the win with a No. 6 singles victory over Santa Clara's John Iwanski.

In doubles, Kyle Dandan and Tommy Hicks gave a strong effort at the No. 2 position but fell 8-2. At No. 3 doubles seniors John Iwanski and Charlie Burke came up short, losing 8-3. Having won the doubles point Pepperdine had the momentum going into singles and was able to secure the victory with a win from Dan Moss at no. 6 singles.

Individual match scores will be posted throughout the weekend.

Saturday morning Santa Clara will take on fifth seeded Saint Mary's where the Broncos will be looking to avenge their March loss to the Gaels. This second round match is set to start at 8 a.m. in San Diego.
