Men's Tennis Drops Match to Loyola Marymount in Round Two

April 20, 2008

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's tennis team dropped their round two consolation match to Loyola Marymount, 4-0, in day two of the WCC Championships.

The Broncos Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong and Jay Wong began the day with a win at the No. 1 doubles position over the Lions Sam Tadevosian and Jacek Twarowski, 8-5; however Santa Clara could not get the doubles point with losses at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.

In singles the Broncos were swept in the lower half of their lineup, resulting in a 4-0 victory for LMU. The matches in the No. 1 through No. 3 positions did not finish because tournament rules state once a team reaches four points the match ends.

Santa Clara will face Gonzaga on April 20, in the third round.
