SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In days two and three of the West Coast Conference tournament, the Bronco men's tennis team fell to Saint Mary's and Gonzaga. On Saturday, the fourth seeded Gaels swept SCU 4-0. Sunday morning was a similar story, as Santa Clara fell 4-1 to the sixth seeded Bulldogs. The Broncos finished out the WCC season with a 4-14 overall record, going 0-6 in conference matches.
The Broncos got off to a rough start in doubles. Stefan Feddersen and Connor Fenney edged out Santa Clara's Jay Wong and Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong in a 8-5 loss. The Bulldogs earned the doubles point with a 8-6 win from Roman Dojack and Scott Sullivan over Tommy Hicks and Kyle Dandan
Senior Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong grabbed a decisive win in singles play over Gonzaga's Conor Fenney, 6-1, 6-2, to give the Broncos their only point of the day. Junior Jay Wong played a noteworthy singles match versus the Zags' Stefan Feddersen. Wong forced his first set into a tiebreak point but was edged out in a 7-6, 6-3 loss.
