Hirakawa-Wong Reaches Semifinals at Bulldog Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong reached the semifinals at the Bulldog Classic, after defeating Alex Rosiniski of the University of Washington, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal round Hirakawa-Wong battled against Fresno State's Siddharth Alapati, but was eliminated in two sets, 6-2, 6-1.

"Kenzo stepped up in this tournament and battled hard," said head coach Derek Mills. "I am very proud of the way he played; he faced some obstacles and was able to overcome them to reach the semifinals."

Blane Shields also reached the quarterfinals before being eliminated. In a two set match, Shields was defeated by Pacific's Artem Gramma, 6-1, 6-3.

"I think the three players who participated in the tournament this weekend showed some great potential," said Mills. "We are looking forward to our next tournament and will be working hard this week in practice."
