SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's tennis team earned a No. 75 ranking the first ITA Tennis national poll this week. The Broncos were ranked for 14 weeks last season and reached as high as No. 59 in March of 2007. Santa Clara is one of three West Coast Conference schools ranked in the first poll.
Looking towards this season, senior Blane Shields will be looking to build upon his success of last season when he posted a 22-5 record. Jay Wong also hopes to continue his momentum from his freshman season when he posted a program record 30 wins.
The Broncos begin regular season play on Saturday January 19, hosting UC Santa Cruz at 9:30 a.m., and UC Davis at 12:30 p.m.
