As the 2009 dual season gets underway this Saturday against UC Santa Cruz, the future is bright for SCU men's tennis. Santa Clara's latest recruiting class is listed among the nation's elite tennis programs, with the Broncos bringing the 25th-ranked recruiting nationally class for 2009.

The Tennis Recruiting Network released national rankings on Friday, Jan. 30, for the 2009 men's tennis recruiting classes as voted by national tournament directors, members of the media, and other college tennis experts. January is the midpoint between the fall signing date in November and the spring date in April.

With head coach Derek Mills and his team looking forward to the start of the 2009 dual season, he is also excited about the future of Bronco men's tennis. "This is exciting for our program. Coming from a 2-18 season in 2008 to having the 25th ranked recruiting class is a big accomplishment. We've been working hard and we're proud of the results," said Mills.

The 2009 incoming class is headlined by Thomas Pham of San Diego, Calif. and Silicon Valley native Eugene Muchynski from San Jose, Calif. Pham and Muchynksi will provide a strong foundation for next season's freshman class.
