Feb. 13, 2008

Santa Clara, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's tennis team will take their first road trip of the season to face No. 75 Fresno State on Sunday February 17, at 2:00 p.m., after the Bulldogs host Nevada in the morning. Santa Clara is looking to get their second win of the season and end Fresno's three-game home winning streak. The Broncos will look to sophomore Jay Wong to continue to dominate at the No. 1 singles position. Wong has been unstoppable at the No. 1 spot, as he is undefeated this season. He will face his toughest competitor this weekend in Fresno's Rudolf Siwy who is nationally ranked No. 92 in singles.

"Jay has been playing strong all season long," said Coach Derek Mills. "This weekend will be tough for him, but he has the talent and composure to do well."

The following day, February 18, the Broncos will return home to host Cal Poly at the Degheri Tennis Center at 12:00 p.m. The Mustangs are coming off a 5-2 loss to Pepperdine, and will travel to the University of San Diego over the weekend before coming to Santa Clara.

"We have been working hard this week in practice," said Mills. "Fresno and Cal Poly are talented squads; however if the guys stay focused they will do well."
