SCU Men's Tennis has Final Three Home Matches

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - This week the Santa Clara men's tennis team hosts its final three home matches of the 2009 dual season. On Tuesday, Mar. 31 at 4 p.m., the Broncos host Sacramento State. Then SCU rests until this weekend when it will host Sonoma State and West Coast Conference opponent Loyola Marymount for Senior Day, on Apr. 4 and 5, respectively.

Santa Clara, (3-7), is coming off of a road loss to Cal Poly, 5-2. The Broncos had a strong doubles performance from the pairs of Jay Wong and Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong, and Tommy Hicks and Kyle Dandan. Their victories grabbed the doubles point for Santa Clara. On the singles side of play, Hirakawa-Wong won the only point for SCU.

Sacramento State (11-5) hosts Montana today before traveling to the Mission Campus for Tuesday's match. The Hornets start this week coming off of two straight wins versus South Alabama and Ball State. Sacramento has won ten out of its last eleven matches as it faces Montana this afternoon. Juniors Holden Ching and Anton Stryhas anchor this young Sacramento team.

Sonoma State (5-8) are coming off of a win on the road versus Cal Poly Pomona and have the week to rest before coming to Santa Clara for Saturday's match. The Seawolves defeated Caly Poly Pomona, 5-4, thanks to a strong singles performance from senior Jordan Smith to clinch the win.

Sunday is Senior Day and Alumni Day for the Broncos as they host WCC opponent Loyola Marymount (4-14). The Lions start the week after losing to Utah, 6-1, and have the week to prepare for this weekend's matches. On Apr. 4, LMU travels to San Francisco to take on the Dons before heading to Santa Clara for Sunday's match.

All matches will be played at the Degheri Tennis Center.
