Shields and Wong to Participate in the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Santa Clara men's tennis players Blane Shields and Jay Wong will head to Tulsa, Okla. to take part in the singles pre-qualifying round at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships on Sept. 29.

This is the second consecutive year that Shields has participated in the tournament; last year he played doubles. With a breakout 2007 season, Shields looks to have success at the tournament. Last season he posted a 22-5 record in singles, and earned All-WCC Honorable Mention for both singles and doubles.

Wong enters the tournament for the first time after a strong freshman season. Last year he posted a 30-11 record tying him for the most singles wins all-time in school history. He also earned All-WCC Singles Second Team and All-WCC Honorable Mention in doubles.

Wong looks to continue his success as a Bronco.
