Men's Water Polo Falls to Twice at Slugfest

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's water polo lost to No. 9 UC San Diego 24-3 and No. 17 Airforce 7-4 to close out play at the Slugfest Tournament this evening. With the losses, the Broncos fall to 5-5 on the season.

SCU played an even match against Air Force. A last-second goal by the Falcons put them up at half 4-3. UAF shutout the Broncos in the third quarter for the win. Santa Clara was led by senior Jay Moorhead's three goals, while freshman Grant Allison added one. Freshman Peter Moore registered five blocks and five steals in goal.

Against UCSD, freshman Nick Takahashi led the Broncos with two goals, while senior Dan O'Connell registered one. Freshman Kevin Bayless earned his first start of the season in goal and finished with six blocks.

The Broncos return home and will host UC Davis at the Leavey Pool on Saturday, October 6 at 11 a.m.
