SARATOGA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's water polo team dropped a tough game to fourth-ranked Southern California on Friday afternoon by a score of 12-3.

The Broncos kept the Trojans close in the first half, trailing by only two at the intermission. The second half proved to be the turning point as the Trojans out-scored Santa Clara 9-2.

"We played very well in the first half, but we just ran out of steam in the second," said head coach Steve Hanson. "They have a lot of depth on their team and they just wore us down in the second half, but I am very proud of the way my guys played today."

Peter Moore started in the cage for the Broncos, making seven saves before giving way to Gareth Owens who ended the game with two saves on the night. Kenny Flanagan, Dan Figoni and Dan O'Connell each scored once for the Broncos on the offensive end.

The Broncos will return to action on Tuesday, October 30 when they take on Cal Maritime at 3 p.m.
