Men's Water Polo Heads to WWPAs

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's water polo team will face Redlands in the first round of the 2001 Western Water Polo Association Championship, hosted by Loyola Marymount University at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday in Los Angeles.

The Lions are the tournament's top seed, while UC San Diego is seeded second. As the sixth seed, the Broncos will face third-seeded Redlands in the opening round. Fourth and fifth seeds fall to U.S. Air Force and UC Davis respectively, while LaVerne is seeded seventh and UC Santa Cruz is seeded eighth.

The tournament continues through Sunday and the Broncos will play one match on each day. If the Broncos defeat Redlands, they will play the winner of the UC San Diego/LaVerne contest at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Should the Broncos fall to Redlands, Santa Clara will play the loser of the UC San Diego/LaVerne contest at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Sunday's schedule is as follows: seventh-place game at 10 a.m., fifth-place game at 11:30 a.m., third-place game at 1 p.m. and the Championship contest at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are available to adults for $7 and to students/children under 12 and seniors for $5. All seating is general admission and All-Tournament passes are not available.
