DAVIS, Calif. - The 17th-ranked Santa Clara University men's water polo team fell to 15th-ranked UC Davis 9-8 this afternoon at Hickey Pool in Davis.

Tied at 8-8 with one minute to go in regulation, the Broncos missed an opportunity to score with a six-on-five advantage. The Aggies scored the game-winner with 14 seconds remaining in the contest.

"They're a good team in our conference and we played them down the wire," SCU head coach Keith Wilbur said. "We did a good job coming into their pool and playing in a pretty tough environment with the loud crowd. I'm never happy with a loss, but I am happy with today's effort."

Daniel Figoni led the Broncos with three goals, while Kevin Starry scored twice. One tally each was notched by Austin Brizgys, Kenny Flanagan-De La Hoz and Sho Yamazaki. Peter Moore guarded the cage and totaled seven blocks.

Santa Clara (13-9) will have a rematch against the Aggies next weekend at the UC Davis Shootout, but will return home for a match tomorrow afternoon first, hosting Cal Maritime at the Leavey Pool at noon.
