Men’s Water Polo Plays Stanford Wednesday at Home

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara's men's water polo continues a stretch of eight of nine games at home Wednesday when local rival Stanford visits.

The Broncos (5-8) and the No. 5 Cardinal (8-2) will meet at 5 p.m. in Sullivan Aquatic Center.

The Broncos look to rebound from their first Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) loss of the season, a 15-7 defeat at the hands of then No. 10-ranked UC Davis on Saturday at home.

Senior Graham McClone continues to lead the Broncos in scoring with 24 goals on the season. He has also contributed 13 assists and 13 steals, both second on the team. Fellow senior Will Grant is third on the team with 14 goals and tied for second with 19 kickouts drawn. Sophomore Reilley May has produced a team-best 29 kickouts drawn.

Freshman Mac Carey leads the team with 14 assists and is second in goals (20). Keaton Fox, another freshman, has started all 13 games in net.

McClone and Sam Toriggino are the only field players to start all 13 games.

In conjunction with Grand Reunion weekend on campus, the Broncos will hold their annual Alumni game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Prior to the game, the team will hold a fundraiser for one of its players. Sophomore Julian Fraser is battling cancer and the Broncos are holding a Swim-A-Thon in order to raise money to offset his medical expenses. The event will take place at 10 a.m. Click here to register.

Sullivan Aquatic Center, as well as its ticket office, is open one hour prior to the start of the game. Only cash is accepted at Sullivan Aquatic Center. 

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to the start. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
