Men’s Water Polo Bounces Back, Downs Concordia Saturday

IRVINE, Calif. – Santa Clara water polo took advantage of its opportunities on the power play to down Concordia, 12-6, Saturday in a nonconference game.

Graham McClone scored three goals, including two with the man advantage and another 5-meter attempt, and Mac Carey tallied a pair (one with the extra attacker) and dished out two assists for the Broncos (11-12) who split a pair of games on a brief road trip. Reilley May also tallied two scores and posted a team-high four steals.

Patrick Collins recorded 10 saves to earn the win in net for Santa Clara, which was 7-for-13 on the power play.

The Broncos led 4-0 after the opening period and never trailed in their final nonconference game of the season.

Santa Clara, which lost to Cal Baptist in Riverside Friday, has two regular season games left on the schedule, both at home. The Broncos face UC San Diego Thursday and Loyola Marymount Saturday on Senior Day.
