SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's water polo held its annual golf tournament on May 15, 2017, at the Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club. Proceeds from the event in nearby Palo Alto, California, directly benefit the men's water polo program. There were a total of 144 participants broken up into 36 foursomes and the Broncos raised $24,513. All participants were alumni or friends of Santa Clara water polo.

"Our sixth annual Bronco Invitational golf tournament was a very fun event that also raised a lot of money for the Santa Clara Men's Water Polo program," head coach Keith Wilbur said. "I would like to thank all the alumni, families, and friends who came out and played in the golf tournament, donated items for our raffles and auctions, and/or volunteered throughout the day to run the event. I would also like to thank all our sponsors for making it such a classy event with golf gear, carts, lunch, dinner, and a chance to win a car with a hole in one. Most of all, I would like to thank Scott Pritchett who has the knowledge, energy, and connections to make this all happen.  Everything about this golf tournament starts with him, and this is the sixth year in a row that he has put together an extremely successful event.  In addition to the money that was raised, it is also a great day for everybody connected to Santa Clara men's water polo to come together, celebrate, and have fun."

The event was emceed by Bay Area golf personality Mitch Juricich of television's "Hooked on Golf."

After the round of golf, there was a cocktail hour with a silent auction. There was also a dinner with prizes for longest drive, closest to the hole, lowest score, raffle winners, and a live auction that included rounds at some of the best golf courses in the Bay Area including the Olympic Club and the Claremont Country Club, as well as a vacation rental in Hawaii. With Juricich guiding the event's auction and dinner program portions, the crowd of over 160 was entertained while raising funds for a great cause. Thanks to title sponsor Gidel & Kocal Construction and 17 other generous supporters, the Broncos were able to donate $24,000 of the net proceeds back to the men's water polo endowment fund.
