Men’s Water Polo Knocks Off Brown in Saturday’s Action at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J.Mac Carey tallied three goals, and Scott Zurnacian and Patrick Kirk each scored twice to lead Santa Clara men's water polo to a 12-9 victory over Brown during Saturday's action in the season-opening Princeton Invitational.

Keaton Fox matched a career-high with 12 blocks for the Broncos who have won two of their three outings at the three-day, 15-team event that concludes on Sunday.

Brown's Hudson Rawlings had a game-high four goals, including one midway through the second quarter that knotted the score at 6-all.

But Reilley May and Kirk soon followed with goals for the Broncos who were 6-for-10 on the man advantage and made their lone 5-meter attempt.

An Aidan Reilly strike two minutes into the fourth period pulled the Bears (2-4) within 9-8, but Carey and Kirk scored just more than one minute apart.

The teams combined for seven exclusions in the final three minutes of the game but neither could hit the back of the net.

Carey and Rottman each accounted for three earned ejections.

In their first competition of the season, the Broncos defeated Johns Hopkins, 13-7, after falling to Princeton, 14-12.
